How does Micellar water work?
Several people across the world have just recently been introduced to micellar water, which has always been a staple on beauty shelves in countries like France. Yet, it is only recently that the world has awakened to its benefits!
Micellar water looks like regular water. But it is actually a combination of purified water, hydrating ingredients, such as glycerine, and low concentrations of extremely mild surfactants. These molecules group together to form microscopic spheres called micelles. The micelles attract dirt and oil, which is what makes micellar water a must-have for your skincare regime.
In just a few swipes, micellar water can remove make-up, cleanse the skin, and tone your face. Even waterproof make-up can be cleaned with micellar water, and you will find that it will not leave the skin red or irritated. Since micellar water is alcohol-free, it is suitable for sensitive skin as well.
How to use micellar water?
Micellar water, as the name suggests, has the same viscosity as water, with a slightly different texture. It is, however, easily absorbed by a cotton pad or ball. Soak a cotton pad with micellar water, leave it on your eyes and count for 5 seconds before swiping away the makeup and dirt – whilst gently cleansing your face. You will notice the dirt and grime on the pad. Take another pad and repeat until the pad is completely clean after wiping.
Micellar water will not only remove dirt from your skin, but will also get rid of excess oil. A good clean-up will leave your skin feeling soft and refreshed, without drying it out. Micellar water is also safe for acne-prone skin as well as the most sensitive skin types since it does not contain any alcohol or unnatural ingredients. Since Micellar water is light and gentle on the skin, it does not need to be rinsed off. Leaving it on will also allow your skin to absorb the hydrating ingredients, making your skin soft to touch.
